Did you know? There are 4 types of shocks: Cardiogenic shock, Hypovolemic shock, Neurogenic shock and Anaphylactic shock

Each type of shock has a different cause and can have serious consequences for the body.

Cardiogenic shock occurs when the heart is unable to pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs. This can be caused by heart failure or a heart attack.

Hypovolemic shock is caused by a lack of blood volume in the body, often due to severe blood loss or dehydration. This leads to inadequate blood supply to the organs.

Neurogenic shock arises when the nervous system does not function properly, often due to a spinal cord injury or brain injury. This causes a sudden drop in blood pressure and can lead to loss of consciousness.

Anaphylactic shock is a severe allergic reaction that occurs when the immune system reacts excessively to an allergen. This can lead to breathing problems, swelling, and a drastic drop in blood pressure.

Recognizing the symptoms of these different types of shock is vital for receiving medical help in a timely manner. Rapid and appropriate treatment can be life-saving.
